Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice focuses on various aspects of family matters. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement matters including step-parent adoptions as well as private party adoptions, as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as wills, trusts, probate, and estate administration, along with commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since 2019. She assists parties to resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters as well as court-appointed mediations for people who wish to avoid court processes and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review which showcased her dedication to legal scholarship and research.
Ashley began her clerkship after completing her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of working as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main focus was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts played a crucial role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at the of their caregivers or parents. Her commitment to tackling social injustice transcended her legal career when she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to educate the public about human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and developed her practice in family law including divorce, custody and child maintenance, as well as guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the intention of providing an individual approach to every client's need.
